The initiative was launched jointly by committed individuals, savers, companies, associations, media outlets, tax experts, crypto service providers, and other industry stakeholders. The platform’s goal is to visibly accompany the public and political debate around the tax holding period for cryptocurrencies and to support preserving the existing rule.

The platform explicitly does not see itself as a project of a single company or association, but as a joint initiative of a broad alliance of:

• private savers,
• companies in the crypto and financial sector,
• tax advisors,
• crypto exchanges and brokers,
• payment service providers,
• media outlets,
• YouTubers,
• influencers,
• as well as citizens interested in technology.

Our mission

We are committed to ensuring that Germany remains an attractive location for digital innovation, long-term wealth building, and new financial technologies in the future as well.

In our view, the existing tax holding period is an important part of a fair, innovation-friendly regulatory framework.

It:

• promotes long-term thinking instead of short-term speculation,
• supports private wealth building,
• creates planning certainty for citizens and businesses,
• enables innovation in the field of digital financial technologies,
• and strengthens Germany’s international competitiveness.

Why we’re getting involved

The discussion about a possible abolition of the holding period no longer affects only individual investors or companies.

Those affected would include:

• millions of private users and savers,
• young people with Bitcoin savings plans,
• companies in the digital finance sector,
• merchants and payment providers,
• software developers,
• as well as Germany as a whole as a hub for innovation.

At the same time, we see the risk that political decisions are increasingly being made on the basis of incomplete or one-sided portrayals.
